My first blog entry will be about the concept of fear as represented in the novel, I think that children are scared of Boo Radley because they've only really heard stories about him, they don't know for sure what he looks like or how he acts for all they know he could be a cannibal, so they were rationally afraid of him because all their lives they had heard stories of what an odd man he is. For Bob Ewell the kids were afraid of him shortly after the trial because Bob had told Atticus that he would 'get' him if it was the last thing he ever did, Atticus had told them that Bob was just full of hot air and he wouldn't harm Atticus, later though Bob Ewell attacked the kids in the middle of the dark field and even though they both knew that there was immediate danger they were not as terrified as they were of Boo in the beginning of the book even though an unknown attacker had tried to kill them, after both kids were home and Bob Ewell was dead Atticus asked Scout if she was afraid, she said that she and Jem hadn't been scared at all even though they could've died, I think she is correct in saying that real fear can only be found in books because the only reason that the kids were afraid of Boo is because of all the stories they had heard, while they weren't afraid of Bob because they hadn't heard any stories about him hurting anyone.

My second blog is about the relationship between Boo Radley and the children and how it develops throughout the book. In the beginning of the book the children are extremely curious of who Boo Radley is and how he lives his life. They want to know everything there is to know about who Boo is and they want to confirm if all the stories are true, as the book goes on the children get up the courage to go into the Radley property to try and give Boo a message after they get caught they had to distance themselves
from Boo for a while. When Miss Maudie Atkinson's house burned down in the winter the children were standing across the street form it for hours without noticing how long they were there, when they went inside their own house Atticus pointed out that Scout had a blanket on her shoulders that wasn't theirs, they later found out that Boo Radley had put it on her shoulders without them noticing. Later on in the book the children found little gifts in the knot of a tree on the Radley lot little did they know they were gifts from Boo. At then end of the book when the children are attacked by Bob Ewell it is Boo Radley that saves their lives and gets Jem home so that a doctor can come look after him, It is then that scout realizes that it was Boo that left the gifts for them and that he has always been there fir the children, she also gets a chance to see life form Boo's point of view after she walks him homew and stands on his porch, she feels sad that her and Jem had nothing to give back to Boo after all he has done for them.

I think Lee is all for public education because she says from a childs point of view school is worthless and you don't really learn anything while from the adults point of view which is the wiser says that you may not learn anything useful to the real world but you learn a lot of learning skills, school helps you to learn to absorb information and be a good learner which is helpful in like and if you feel like you could learn more important things outside of school then that is your right, I do think Lee supports public education because she never states that public education is a bad thing she says that maybe you might not learn what you want to but it builds up your knowledge of life skills.

Atticus is respected in the community because everyone knows he is a fair and honest man and that he will argue for whats right even if it's not approved of by the public, people openly criticize him because he defends black people or those less fortunate who have to go to court especially if they are in the right, Atticus doesn't always get paid with money which is another thing people disapprove of he doesn't seem to care as long as he gets something from them, which is usually whatever they can provide food or garden supplies, Atticus just wants to make sure that justice is served or people at least hear a voice of reason before making a decision.
